In each of them, I want to pass on some career advice to recruiters who are probably in their 30s – because this is normally the time when they realise the things that were important in their 20s simply aren’t anymore.

Three Into One Does Go
I spend a lot of time on social media – LinkedIn and Twitter mostly.
I use both places to network with recruiters (agency and inhouse) as well as industry suppliers, a few techies, marketers, bloggers, journalists and Arsenal fans. But mostly recruiters.
A lot of what I see recruiters complaining about are related to issues surrounding their market being eroded – either by the emergence of more inhouse recruiters and the lowering of margins.

Why Recruitment isn’t like the Olympics
You don’t need to do 4 years of training and you become better at it the older you get.
You also don’t need to keep fit, watch what you eat or take drugs.
Some of that last sentence may not be true.
Anyone who does try to tell you that recruitment is like the Olympics, or any trending news story (Pokemon, David Bowie, etc..) might be trying to sell you something.
I’m just saying be careful, that’s all.
